Love for the People

Ideas to change the world.

Currently working on a project to create bags.
Bags for the People is a non profit based out of New York.  While staying in Portland I learned about the folks who started this beautiful project to eliminate the one staple of american excess and consumer waste.  The PLASTIC BAG.  A beautiful project which makes bags out of old used clothing (t-shirts mostly) and hands them out for FREE!  The goal here in Baltimore is to stand outside the Whole Foods and give away bags to those who were just going to use plastic (or paper).  To educate people and inspire them to rethink and begin creating change.  The average american family uses 700-1200 bags per year.    The average store sends out more than 7000 bags per day!!!  Which then adds up to over 2 million bags per year!!  Remember that is just one store.  It is approximated to take over 1000 years for one bag to disintegrate in a landfill.  Probably longer.  How insane are these numbers?  How over consuming have we become?  If one family had just 5 bags that they took with them to the store every time they would never use another plastic bag again.  It's that easy.  It's that simple.

Simple Solutions.  Radical Revolutions.  Here we go.......

Farewell to the West

On this grey Valentines Day in the Emerald City I prepare for my departure.

I have seen and felt so much while resting in this little city.  Met many new faces, connected and learned about a new dear friend.
Dove into my inner being and figured out what I want in life and where I want to be.

I head north out of Oregon.  Through the Gorge and then East.
My mind will be filled with views of Glacier and the Northern States.  Beauty Incarnate.

The Next stop...

Baltimore and a Sailboat.

love.

Perpetuating Portland

Bikes, Street Cars, Aerial Trams.  What does sustainability mean?  Rethinking.  Moving Forward.

I have been inspired here.  This little town and the man I am staying with have provided new insight to what it means to be progressive and forward thinking.  Tiny city parks where street poles used to be, green roofs and unconventional transportation.

"The Land of B's"  Bikes, Books, Beer, Beauty, Baristas, Bluegrass.

There is beauty all around.  I will take it all with me as I head back east next week.  More inspirations to come......

Together We Will Live Forever

The Load is Heavy
The path, hard to follow
and Midwinter wonders flood my soul,
into canyons and peaks
of emotion and love.
Melancholy moments
nestled and nurtured next to
the monumental mountains.

A day
 spent in appreciation
to the tradition of love.

An unending journey.
Embedded with the solid
reassurance of truth.
